Exceptional Education for Innovative Learners

MIS takes innovative learning to a new level, using a research-driven Integrated Curriculum Model to target students' potential and forward academic success in all areas. Hands-on, problem-based learning drives

Letter from the Founder

Integrated Curriculum Model

This model was designed by the Center for Gifted Education at the College of William and Mary to integrate content standards in all subject areas with development of higher-order thinking skills. The program has over 20 years of research and development in schools around the world.

Some examples of strategies used to integrate curriculum content with higher-order thinking skills across the curriculum include:
  • Advanced Literature Selections (Language Arts)
  • Problem-Based Learning Strategies (Science)
  • Multiple Causation and Systems Approach (Social Studies)
  • Model Approach with Interdisciplinary Problem Solving (Math)

Foreign Language Instruction

MIS believes that today's global society sets a mandate for educators to develop foreign language competencies for all students. At MIS, all students will benefit from foreign language instruction in French, Spanish, and Chinese.

For families looking for extended time in these or other foreign languages, MIS offers immersion after school programs. The school is able to customize its after school offerings to the needs of our diverse families.
